While i do agree that everything you say here is valid. But if you're trying to teach these fills to less experienced players, who CANT play them yet..... Why are you using these INSANE GROOVES in between them? Your own ego? You mite wanna keep the ENTIRE LESSON with -in the same difficulty -level..... Just my 2¢ from a 44 y.o. player who's been around a bit BtW, Gary Chaffees PATTERNS SERIES are INVALUABLE PIECES OF INFORMATIONAL GOLD & My fav 7 grouping is a paradiddle with a single & double after RLRRLRR, cuz the sticking Alternates & offers great possibilities. 😁

I finally got this. It helped to consider the accent was on the toms and ghost notes on the snare. It may not be that way but that interpretation helped me to put it together

Wow, there you go! I still have a hard time placing bass drums notes in rudiments-based grooves and fills! 😅

I've tried so many different foot technique videos to actually get the speed for it, but I just can't slide my foot over. It feels so unnatural, will it just come with time? I practiced foot speed for about a month, and I could only get quick enough to play doubles with 2 leg movements instead of one.
